Skip Murphy retired in March 2003 as a Captain in the San Diego Sheriff’s Department after a nearly 38-year career in County public service. He was first elected to the Board of Retirement in 1983. Since then, he has served as a Trustee for more than 30 years as both an active and retired member. Mr. Murphy has served 11 terms as Board Chair. He has an Associate degree from Southwestern College in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Laws degree from LaSalle Extension University.
