John joined Akron Community Foundation in May of 2008 as its President and CEO after 28 years in nonprofit management, most recently as president of the Arthritis Foundation, Northeastern Ohio Chapter, a position he held for five years. During his time at ACF, he has championed the organizations move to a more donor centric organization and has managed the growth of its staff team from 9 to 21 people. Since 2009, the foundation has more than doubled its number of fundholders to more than 840 and generated over $160 million in new contribution revenue, while total assets now exceed $260 million, triple the level they were in March of 2009.
