John began his career in 1985, working on the Far East Desk for James Capel & Company, a UK based broker now part of the HSBC franchise. He joined Oppenheimer in 1989, initially as a proprietary trader focused on derivative arbitrage and later was named head of a newly formed International Trading desk, running that business from 1992 to 1997.
