Mr. Smith is Executive Vice President & President, Cleveland-Cliffs Steel. He provides executive leadership for the Steelmaking business’ operations and commercial sales. Mr. Smith also oversees the company’s Research and Innovation Center and the technology group. Prior to his present role, Mr. Smith was Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. He played a key role in the acquisitions of AK Steel and ArcelorMittal USA in 2020, as the Company became the largest flat-rolled producer of steel in the United States. Formerly, he was Executive Vice President, Business Development and had leadership for developing emerging business opportunities to grow Cleveland-Cliffs’ U.S. dome
